Position: Lead Technician

Main responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to all shop employees in the day-to-day activities
  • Conducts and supervises all safety related shop activities
  • Ensures that all shop work is completed within prescribed timelines and budget, at a high level of quality
  • Supervises the work of shop personnel, attendance and on the job performance
  • Oversees the preventive maintenance activities of shop facilities and equipment
  • Manages the shop tools and devices calibration program and is responsible for the safekeeping and actualization of calibration certificates
  • Participation and technical support of various product design activities

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of mechanical assembly experience with 2 years in a leadership role. Gearboxes assembly and testing experience a plus
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with a focus on quality
  • High analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills (MS Office, CAD system)

Trade Qualifications:

  • Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic or Machine Fitter

Position: Project & Materials Coordinator

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage entire product order lifecycle including planning, monitoring, tracking, reporting, and closing.
  • Entering of orders in the Manufacturing System, including working with customers and suppliers in negotiating delivery dates, dealing with concerns, and to effectively meet their requirements.
  • Working / coordinating with various groups internal and external to the company to provide the best possible customer service.
  • Manage changes to scope, cost, and schedule and organization of project files.
  • Placing and expediting orders when required (negotiation with shop personnel and supply chain partners).
  • Documentation of order history, issues, milestones, and follow-up action items.
  • Constantly keeps customer informed of status of their products / delivery dates.

Skills and Experience:

  • Capable to think proactively to mitigate project risks
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to adapt and cope with change
  • Practical experience in a project management environment would be an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to work under pressure
  • Team player and able to work with people at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong sense of customer service
  • Good knowledge of computer skills (including MS Excel and other MS Office Applications)
  • Gearboxes and/or Heavy Duty Machinery knowledge / background (2 - 5 year experience) would be an asset
  • PMP/CPIM or working towards PMP/CPIM designation would also be an asset

Education:

  • 2-5 years of technical post-secondary education or equivalent work experience in a heavy duty products manufacturing organization.

Position: Senior Mechanical Designer

Ikona Gear is a global leader in developing revolutionary patented gearing technology and integrating it into mechanical designs and innovative engineering applications. We have a challenging opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer or technologist for the role of Senior Mechanical Designer with our Engineering Department.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise during the project planning stage. Participate in the formulation of project specifications and milestones, and the estimating of project budgets and schedules for design projects.
  • Ensure that all assigned projects are completed on time and within budget, and reports periodically on project status.
  • Conduct analyses of components and materials to determine their performance, strength, and other characteristics, and make final selection of various components (gears, bearings, couplings, motors ).
  • Review existing design constraints, specifications, concept documents and develop (or lead development of) full 3D models, manufacturing and other drawings of components and assemblies, using Solidworks 2005.
  • Interaction with customers and suppliers.
  • Prepare assembly, testing, installation and maintenance documentation.

Skills and Experience:t

  • Minimum 10 years of design and manufacturing experience. Minimum 5 years experience in a gear design environment. Experience with plastic materials a plus.
  • Strong project leadership skills in product design / development projects.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, and strong leadership and influencing skills with a "Customer First" focus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Capable of making an immediate impact in product development.
  • Strong computer (Windows, Word, Excel), CAD (Solidworks or similar parametric solid modelling package), and TK solver skills required.

Education:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree, Mechanical Technologist Diploma or equivalent.
